Geschiedenis
Het pand dateert uit 1844 en heeft gefungeerd als sigarenfabriek. Het gebouw is vooral bekend door de zwerfkei die aan de hoek van het pand geketend zit. Deze is neergelegd als schampsteen en is zo de naamgever van het pand.

Over ‘De Gesloten Steen’ bestaan meerdere sagen. Een van die sagen behelst dat de duivel en zijn knecht 's nachts deze steen aan het overgooien waren tussen de nabijgelegen Geertebrug en Vollersbrug. Bij een misser klapte de steen met een zodanige smak tegen de grond dat de huizen op hun grondvesten trilden. Vervolgens heeft men de zwerfkei maar aan de ketting gelegd (gesloten) om van het geduvel af te zijn.

History
The building dates from 1844 and has served as a cigar factory. The building is best known for the boulder that is chained to the corner of the building. This has been laid out as a stone and is the name giver of the building.
